Hi!! I’m Brooke, I’m 15 years old and I am currently doing work experience with Big Egg Films.
Although today is only my second day, i have loved every part of working so far. Yesterday, I met Big Egg and they were really welcoming and made me feel relaxed. As i didn’t know what to expect, when i stepped into the building i was pleasantly surprised by the design and aesthetics of the building, which is located in the Albert Dock, and how friendly all the clockwise staff are. To start off our day, we went into a meeting with one of their new clients, The Paul Lavelle Foundation, and we discussed all the different key factors and themes of an upcoming short film ,that is in the process of establishment.
The Paul Lavelle Foundation is a charity that was founded in honour of Paul Lavelle, who passed away tragically in a domestic abuse incident in 2017. The charity works to educate people about healthy relationships, support male victims and survivors and increase awareness of male domestic abuse. They also provide workshops on healthy relationships, a drop-in service, and mental health services to support anyone they can. So, as i mentioned we were discussing key factors earlier on in the day, it had been decided that ‘healthy relationships’ was our key and main focus, so basically what its about, for the film.
Before the meeting, we did preparation using the website ‘Miro’, going into depth of different factors such as themes, kit, costume, cast+crew ,visuals, etc, to help our organisation. We also created a small mood board to give us a visual idea of the tone we want to portray throughout filming. This really helped throughout the meeting, as we were on a zoom call to the script writer, Amy, and we shared all of our points with her and Sharne, who works for The PLF (Paul Lavelle Foundation). They both responded positively to our points and contributed their own as well. We also received help from one of my school teachers, as he came to check in on me to report back to the school that i was safe and all that other boring stuff, and he made his own good contributions from a teacher’s perspective. Overall, we had a very productive first meeting that helped but everything into perspective.
